At the beginning of Term Two we all thought, “oh no, 11 weeks is such a long term” and here we are at the end of it, celebrating the achievements of our students and their engagement with College life.
As you can see through this newsletter there are many photos of our students participating in a whole range of activities. I believe the images speak for themselves and highlight the dynamic learning and social environment that everyone at Sevenoaks enjoys.
Much activity has occurred during the term, a lot of it generated by our wonderful students who have participated well in the community groups which are available for them.
There are many excursions which have led our students into the wider world and enables them to engage with authentic learning experiences. These excursions connect students to their learning and enable them to explore future career directions.
Students have also represented the College exceptionally well in sporting teams including volleyball, basketball, soccer and netball. They have been great ambassadors for Sevenoaks, displaying outstanding commitment and teamwork.
Connecting and belonging is a central theme at Sevenoaks. Our events, activities and excursions all enable students to connect to our College environment which gives them a strong sense of belonging to our community. It is heartening every week to see their positive engagement with being a student at Sevenoaks Senior College.
Wellbeing Week was a particularly memorable week, with so much on offer for students and staff alike. I would like to extend my appreciation and thanks to our Student Services team, who worked hard to ensure the week was filled with interactive and engaging activities, highlighting the importance of being both physically and mentally healthy.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to attend our Parent Afternoon late this term. We are committed to working in partnership with you to achieve the best possible outcomes for students at Sevenoaks.
I want to thank our teaching staff for their wonderful efforts with our students and their commitment to student progress and learning. Thank you as well to our support staff who work so diligently behind the scenes in supporting the students in a range of areas, making Sevenoaks such a vibrant place to learn and work.
I am very much looking forward to another jam-packed term in Term Three, kicking off in week one with our NAIDOC Week celebrations and the highly anticipated Year 12 College Ball. I hope you all have a relaxing break and enjoy spending time with family and friends.
